We are currently looking to appoint a Temporary Accommodation & Prevention Officer to join our Housing Solutions Team on fixed term basis until September 2027.
The Temporary Accommodation Officers role is a key part of the Councils Housing Solutions Team. Its primary function is to manage the provision and placement of homeless households into temporary accommodation as well as the procurement of private sector accommodation to assist in the prevention of homelessness.
The role includes ongoing case management of homeless households in South Derbyshire temporary accommodation and emergency Bed and Breakfast accommodation in relation to tenancy management, rent collection and pre-tenancy work in preparation to move on into more permanent accommodation in order to discharge the Councils rehousing duties.
The role will be responsible for visiting homeless households in temporary accommodation and ensuring that tenants are prepared and supported into permanent accommodation to ensure that they manage their tenancies successfully.
The officer should have a relevant Housing Experience and previous practical experience of working in a busy housing environment. The candidate will need to demonstrate that they have good written and oral communication and negotiation skills together with being proficient in IT and a full current driving licence and access to a vehicle are all essential requirements.
