Safer Street Warden – Permanent
Community Safety
Salary Grade 4 i.e. £28,598 – £31,022 per annum
Full Time, 37 hours per week
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our experienced Community Safety Team, located in Worksop, providing a comprehensive customer service engaged in promoting a feeling of safety whilst preventing and resolving anti-social behaviour across the Bassetlaw area.
You will provide a uniformed visible presence in designated areas to improve the feeling of safety and provide re-assurance for people living, working and/or visiting the area. Much of the role involves active day to day ongoing patrolling of the streets throughout each working day, therefore you must be prepared to work outdoors on an ongoing basis and in all weather conditions. You will offer words of advice to individuals and groups causing any kind of nuisance or annoyance through anti-social behaviour, gather evidence and use powers delegated to you to issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) for breaches of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
Working closely with the Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Team, CCTV Control Room and local Police, you will make enquiries and gather evidence of more serious and repeat offending to support the building of case files for prosecution in court. You will also provide advice and support to vulnerable individuals who may present with chaotic lifestyles such as those rough sleeping, begging and misusing drugs/alcohol. Therefore, it is essential that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an assertive but fair approach to managing conflict and problem-solving.
The only qualification required for this role is a GCSE grade C or above/level 4-9 in English, or recognised equivalent, as relevant skills and knowledge are more important.
If you would like more information about the role, please contact Katie Young, ASB Team Leader, katie.young@bassetlaw.gov.uk or (01909) 533 533.
